An ORIGINAL LEADER
This original Walker family quarry is home to the Walker Industries’ head office and a welcome fixture in the Niagara Falls region. It has won multiple Community Relations Awards for its efforts to minimize its impact on neighbours. Recent improvements included adding more polyurethane screens in the plant, purchasing a new water truck, installing electronic radar signage, and creating a new traffic plan.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
The quarry gives back to the community through open houses and educational events, donations and support for charitable initiatives like Habitat for Humanity, the Parkinson SuperWalk and the All Sports All People’s sledge hockey program. Its rehabilitation efforts include building the scenic Ten Mile Creek Trail and creating an entire ecosystem that is home to a variety of native plants and animals.
